Inspired by 'Machinal' (Sophie Treadwell, 1928), Mi Ángel is a condemnation of capitalism and a reimagining of the American Dream. This new work depicts the clashing of cultural values through the interweaving of languages that colored the Southwestern landscape of playwright Marisa Grady's upbringing.

Ryan’s questions for you
1. Describe the piece in one word.
2. After the excerpt you saw tonight, there is a twist in the play... any guesses as to what that twist might be?
3. Considering the genre is horror, was there anything that was too much for you?
4. Did anything not logically track?
5. Could you see this potentially adapted as a film?

Miki P

With the release of her EP, “Don’t Lose Your Hope,” Miki P moves into a new phase of her career. The Kansas City singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and producer describes the EP’s creative process like the delicate brushstrokes on a painting – each vibrant color swept with sincerity and purpose. The album’s title track took shape as the pandemic began taking hold in early 2020, while canceled gigs, postponed recording sessions and halted band rehearsals attempted to derail her creative process. But being the artistically driven presence she is, Miki P pieced the entire work together on her own — vocals, guitar, piano, bass, drums, ukulele — giving us an intimate and empowering look at her own forced period of isolation, reflection and contemplation. The result is a vivid timeline of tenderness, healing, and above all else, hope.
